Comfort in a Bowl: When Healing Tastes Like Home

Sometimes the best meals aren’t fancy — they’re the ones that taste like you. Last night, I made something that reminded me of home, of slow Sundays in my grandmother’s kitchen, and of how far I’ve come on this healing journey.

✨ The Meal

Smoky habichuelas guisadas simmered with tender smoked turkey, spooned over fluffy white rice. Crispy air-fried chicken wings on the side. Half an avocado sprinkled with sea salt. Simple, soulful, divine.

Each bite carried a memory — Abuela’s laughter, the smell of sofrito, the calm that only real food brings. I didn’t plan it, didn’t measure anything. I just followed instinct, and somehow that instinct tasted like peace.

🌱 Reflection

It reminded me that healing isn’t just therapy and routines — it’s also moments like this, when you make yourself a plate that feels like love. When nourishment comes from your own hands.

This wasn’t just dinner; it was a reunion with myself — proof that healing can taste like home. 💛
